Third trip to Edinburgh. Its only an hour away on the bus. That's like getting the bus from my house to Canterbury Uni but its a new city! Vaguely mind blowing. Deb has a friend from home visiting - Liz - she's great (and ginger). So Deb, Liz, Jess and I went for the day to Edinburgh. We actually got to see the Modern Art Gallery this time which was good.
We started the day in the Elephant House - the Harry Potter cafe. That place is awesome. I would recommend it even if Harry hadn't been born there. So yes. That was lovely.

Deb and Liz in the Elephant House.

Nearby there's a statue of Greyfriars Bobby - a little dog who is famous for guarding the grave of his master for fourteen years. Very cute. The Greyfriars Kirkyard is just around the corner from the Elephant House. In that grave yard is the coolest thing ever. Ever.

Tom Riddle's grave!!! Admittedly it is spelt slightly differently, but this is apparently where JK got the idea for the name. And the anagram factor I guess explains why she changed the spelling. Otherwise it would have been Volldemort. Or maybe ...Tom Marvoo Riddell... Not as good. It was so much fun looking for it. And so gratifying when we found it. There are rumours that there is also a Hermione Granger grave there as well, but we couldn't find it. Shame shame.

It was a very pretty graveyard.

A trip to Edinburgh is nae complete without a trip to Armstrong's vintage emporium. Look at all the vintage kilts!
Then we went out to the Modern Art Gallery.

Its a pretty cool building. And the collection is good. The Dean gallery had the most amazing exhibition of Diane Arbus photography. It was amazing. I really really enjoyed it.
We went back into the city centre and had a pint at the Guilford. Then we had an amazing dinner with wine and dessert and olives and general stomach satisfaction. And then back on the bus home. A good day all around really.
